Position: Cable Department Manager.
Summary: The GSPS Cable Department Manager oversees the inventory, testing, organization, and logistics of all show cabling including audio, video, lighting, and power across GSPS clients, shows, and events. This role leads warehouse and touring technicians responsible for cable inventory management, show deployment, and returns, ensuring flawless technical execution, quality and equipment reliability, and strict safety standards across all productions. The manager will be responsible for preparing and submitting reports on project progress, work completed, and any issues and quality concerns encountered in the department.
Essential Functions:
Major Responsibilities:
Inventory Management & Quality Control
- Oversee the cataloging, maintenance, and repair of large-scale cable inventories including multicore, fiber optic, Socapex, and power distribution.
- Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Enforce strict inspection and testing protocols for all cables before and after every event.
Load-In / Load-Out Logistics
- Plan and supervise deployment, routing, and cable order processing via the FLEX inventory management system through shop tour prep and show returns.
Team Leadership
- Manage, train, and schedule a team of Cable Technicians and temporary crew members for daily operations.
- Demonstrate proven leadership and team management skills.
- Develop and implement work schedules to optimize resource utilization and project completion.
Budget & Procurement
- Manage department budget.
- Order replacement stock and coordinate vendor RMAs.
- Manage department staff work hours.
- Track cable obsolescence.
Safety Compliance
- Ensure all cable deployments, particularly power and fly-systems, comply with local codes, show requirements, and OSHA safety standards.
Attendance
- Attendance is an essential requirement for this position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certificates:
- High School diploma or GED.
Experience:
- 3–5+ years of relevant live event, touring, or AV integration experience with a strong emphasis on cable management and repair.
- Previous experience in a supervisory role within the live event industry or cable industry.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Solid understanding of entertainment lighting, video, and audio signal flows.
- Ability to operate and recommend advanced and automated cable testing equipment.
